In 2014 he published <strong>What Mother Told Us<\/strong>, a special tribute to ordinary women who have kept the flame of struggle alive.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Noteworthy was <strong>Zenzele: Young Gifted &amp; Free<\/strong> (Porcupine Press 2014) a motivational book that is the practical application of the tenets of Black Consciousness spirit of self-determination. The significance of Zenzele is its aim to encouraging youth from disadvantaged background to take control of their lives and future.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This was preceded by <strong>His Master\u2019s Voice<\/strong> (Geko Publishing 2011) is Memela\u2019s semi-autobiographical second book which will was published by Geko Publishing. It traces the experiences of black professionals in a capitalist controlled economy, especially in the media.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The first book was <strong>Flowers of the Nation<\/strong> (Kwa-Zulu Natal University Press, 2005.)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He has also contributed short stories to Soweto Inside Out (Zebra Press, 2004) and Crossing Over (Kwela Books, 1994.) Significantly, his short story was one of the Top 20 winners in the Short Sharp Stories national competition and was published in Bloody Satisfied.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"widget-title\">PUBLIC INTELLECTUAL CONTRIBUTION<\/h4>\n<p>A well-known journalist and <strong>public intellectual<\/strong>, he is a frequent commentary contributor and serial letter writer to The Star, Business Day, The Argus, Mail&amp; Guardian, Sowetan, Pretoria News, The Argus, City Press and Sunday Independent, Sunday Tribune, to name a few.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Since 2007, he has been in the <strong>Top 10 contributors<\/strong> of the multi-award winning <a href=\"http:\/\/thoughtleader.co.za\/sandilememela\">thoughtleader<\/a> blog on M&amp;G Online.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CREATIVE WRITER A passionate creative thinker and writer, Memela has published four books.
